MirrorBox is an anonymous messages app: you share one link, and your friends send you anonymous notes, questions, songs, 3-word descriptions, vibes and memories. You read them in a private inbox, answer the best ones on your story, and keep the rest to yourself. It's free, and it works in your browser today at mirrorbox.me. The iPhone and Android apps are coming soon.

We built it because the most interesting thing anyone can tell you is what the people around you actually think, and most people will only say it when their name isn't attached.

What MirrorBox does, in 30 seconds#

  1. Claim your link. You get a page at mirrorbox.me/yourname. It takes about as long as picking a profile picture.
  2. Drop it everywhere. Put it on your Instagram, Snapchat or TikTok story, in your bio, or in the group chat.
  3. Watch your box fill up. Friends open your link in any browser, pick a card, write something and hit send. No download, and no account unless you ask for one.
  4. Answer the good ones. Reply, pin favourites to your page, or post your answer to your story so even more people send you notes.
Every note lands in your private inbox first. Nothing goes public unless you pin it.

Six ways to say it (way more than "ask me anything")#

Most anonymous Q&A apps give your friends one empty box. MirrorBox gives them six cards, and you turn on the ones you want:

CardWhat friends sendExample
AskThe classic anonymous question"what's your comfort show?"
NoteThe nice thing nobody says out loud"ur laugh fixes my whole day"
SongThe track that reminds them of you"this one is literally you"
3 wordsYou, in exactly three words"sunshine · in human · form"
VibeOne line to hype you up"main character energy fr"
MemoryA moment you shared"that 2am taco run >>>"
Friends pick a card, write something real, and hit send. No name attached.

The structure matters. "Describe me in 3 words" gets far more replies than a blank box, because it's easy to answer and fun to read. Need inspiration for your own questions? We collected 75 anonymous questions to ask your friends.

Chat with the mystery sender#

Got a note and need to know more? Turn the card into a conversation. You can chat with the sender, Instagram-DM style, with stickers, GIFs and reactions, while they stay anonymous until they decide to reveal themselves. They show up under a fun alias, so the guessing is half the fun.

Start a chat from any card. The sender decides if and when to say who they are.

Chats only work with signed-in senders, and only between people in the same age group, so teens chat with teens and adults with adults.

Make your wall. Make it weird.#

Your page comes with a wall: a canvas where you pile on photos, stickers, doodles and big messy text, then drop in live blocks like an "Ask me" box, your pinned answers or a counter of notes this month. It's the part of your page that says "this is who I am."

Pick a template or start from scratch: draw, add stickers and photos, and drop in live blocks.

See yourself through your friends#

Every "3 words" card adds to your Friends' portrait, a word cloud of how the people around you describe you. And at the end of each month, your recap wraps up your messages, replies, top vibes and favourite note, ready to post.

The monthly recap is free for everyone. MirrorBox+ shows every word in your portrait.

Anonymous, not unhinged#

Anonymous apps have a reputation, and we took that seriously. MirrorBox is kind by design:

  • Filters are on from day one. Spam, hate and blocked words are caught, and notes that look harmful can be held back before they reach you.
  • Nothing goes public unless you pin it. Every note lands in your private inbox first.
  • You choose who can message you: everyone, only signed-in people, or only people you follow.
  • Muted words quietly drop any note that contains them, and the sender is never told.
  • Take a break pauses your box for 24 hours, a week, or until you're back.
  • Block and report are one tap away, and reports go to our moderation team.
  • No fake friends. When MirrorBox sends you a question to get things started, it is always labelled as coming from MirrorBox, never passed off as a friend.
Safety tools are free for everyone and never behind a paywall.

MirrorBox is for people aged 13 and over. You can download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, at any time.

Is MirrorBox free?#

Yes. Your link, inbox, replies, chats, wall, recap and every safety tool are free. MirrorBox+ is an optional upgrade that adds premium story templates, page themes with a ✦ badge, insights (views, messages and the best time to post) and your full Friends' portrait. It never reveals who sent a message. Nothing does.

Web now, iPhone and Android soon#

You don't have to wait for an app store. MirrorBox works on the web today, on any phone or laptop: claim your link, share it, read your inbox, reply and chat, all in your browser.

Native apps are on the way. Your link and inbox carry over when they land.

The iPhone and Android apps are coming soon to the App Store and Google Play, with push notifications the moment a note lands and one-tap story cards. Sign in with the same account and everything is already there.

It's available in 14 languages, including Arabic (right-to-left), Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

Your friends have things to say. Claim your MirrorBox link before someone takes your name, then read our guide on how to get anonymous messages on your Instagram story to fill your box on day one.
